If you’re like me, you think a good playlist is the answer to everything. I am always on the hunt for my new favorite jam, and find extreme satisfaction in creating unusual groupings of songs.
The process of curating my playlists is really intuitive and impulsive—everything usually comes together rather quickly. Sometimes, I like to make long playlists that are good to play on shuffle for hours, and other times, I make more carefully curated ones that act as small mix tapes.
Recently, I’ve decided to turn this hobby into a small personal design project by creating playlist cover art that sings to the personality of the playlists themselves. The design process for this project is very similar to the process of making the playlist itself—quick and intuitive. I want to challenge myself by quickly creating imagery in response to the content I generate, and keeping it pretty loose. I’d describe them as gut reactions to the group of selected songs.
More to come!
