THIS will keep you entertained and sidetracked from your work for a good while!
Real Estate, an indie pop band from Ridgewood, New Jersey, commissioned a video for their latest song, Stained Glass, which allows viewers to color in the line-drawn video as it plays. If their music isn’t your taste, just turn it down and get on coloring! It is so much fun.
Billed as the first of its kind, the video—created by Wieden + Kennedy creative director Craig Allen and Media Monks—features the band moving through a landscape with mountains on the horizon, all animated in black lines on a white background ready to be filled in with color. The viewer can choose from a palette of ‘paints,’ then click and drag to color the animation! Or, if you prefer, you can watch a completely colored-in version the band made themselves.
“I’ve always been excited to find new ways of making content and this video is a fun—dare I say therapeutic—thing to play with, where you actually get to feel like you accomplish something at the end,” says Allen.
Try it for yourself! If it’s therapeutic, then it’s NOT REALLY a distraction. 😉
